River Center is seeking a  person or two to volunteer for Mon., Tues and Thurs from 9 a.m. until noon to work in the office beginning June 1st through August 31st.  This is very light office work – mainly answering the phone and having people fill out Emergency Assistance forms as needed.

If you can work one day a week or all three, please let us know either by e-mailing or calling the office and speaking to Nawnie at 984-4333.

Currently there are 6 people in New Castle waiting for a tutor to help  them learn English. Literacy Outreach will provide the training and you do not need to speak another language to volunteer for this.

Literacy Outreach is a local, non-profit agency combating illiteracy in Garfield County, Colorado. Our mission is to teach essential literacy skills to adults. Through professionally trained volunteer tutors, we provide free one-on-one instruction to adults with reading skills below the 4th grade level. Achieving a functional literacy level leads to improved employment status, enhanced self-esteem and greater self-sufficiency.

If you would like to help contact Martha Frendenhall at 945-5282 or mfredendall@rof.net
